Honeysuckle Lead Teacher

Rock Rose Village School is seeking an experienced early childhood teacher to lead a combined nursery-kindergarten class in Fall 2019.

Rock Rose is a small Waldorf/LifeWays Inspired Early Childhood Center located in southern California in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook. Fallbrook is an area rich in Waldorf community, biodynamic farms, Waldorf schools, anthroposophical study groups and close proximity to WISC (the Waldorf Institute of Southern California).

Our school is modeled in part on Helle Heckmann's Nokken and we incorporate aspects of R.I.E. and LifeWays. We work daily with the children on the joy of domestic and practical work, maintaining a large garden where we grow vegetables and herbs, and including a kitchen where we cook organic lunches and snacks daily for all the children. This is combined with caring for our classroom and our outdoor space, along with painting, sewing, puppet shows, and seasonal crafts and celebrations. We spend a large part of our day outdoors so our ideal candidate would be comfortable spending several hours per day outdoors and enjoy gardening, cooking, and woodwork.

We are looking for someone who is hard working, has a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, works with purpose and joy, and is looking to grow with our school and community. Our ideal full-time candidate would have a BA/BS degree, a Waldorf Early Childhood teacher certification (or be in progress) and/or a LifeWays early childhood certification, 2-3 years experience, California fingerprint clearance, and 12 ECE units.

We value excellent teaching and classroom management skills, as well as a deep understanding of child development. We also seek a colleague committed to building strong collegial and parent relationships, and one who is committed to helping us grow a Waldorf/LifeWays early childhood center in North County San Diego.

Our Kindergarten program runs from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm for 15 children per day ages 2 to 6 years. Responsibilities in the class will include working collaboratively with an assistant teacher to incorporate all the elements of the Waldorf/LifeWays early childhood curriculum into our weekly rhythm. We also ask our teachers to participate in school festivals, parent education, board meetings and help to support our outreach efforts.

Start date:

August 12th, 2019

Interest applicants should send a resume, (3) professional references, and a letter of intent to:
