Assistant Lead Teacher for Combined Preschool and Kindergarten Program

Rock Rose Village School is seeking a warm, dedicated Assistant Lead Teacher to join our early childhood Waldorf/LifeWays-inspired program. This is a full-time position for someone ready to step beyond a traditional assistant role and grow into meaningful leadership within our school and pedagogy.


Rock Rose is a small, nurturing Waldorf/LifeWays-inspired early childhood center located in the friendly village of Fallbrook, Southern California. Our region is rich in Waldorf community life, biodynamic farms, and anthroposophical study groups, and is in close proximity to the Waldorf Institute of Southern California (WISC).


Our program is inspired in part by Helle Heckmann’s Nøkken approach and integrates aspects of R.I.E. and LifeWays. We currently offer a parent-baby, parent-child, and a combined preschool kindergarten that takes place largely outdoors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Co-leading a mixed-age early childhood classroom
  • Creating a warm, consistent daily rhythm
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and physical development
  • Collaborating closely with a co-teacher and faculty
  • Participating in festivals, school events, and community life
  • Assisting with and/or leading summer camp programs


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 ECE units required
  • Waldorf training or experience preferred but not required
  • A genuine interest in Waldorf education and child development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Dependable, organized, and joyful in working with young children

Required Qualifications

  • Deep respect for and enjoyment of working with young children
  • Experience with children ages 2–6
  • Minimum 12 ECE units
    (or 6 units with current enrollment), including: Child Growth & Development, Family/Community, and Programs/Curriculum
  • Ability to offer a calm, steady presence with clear and kind boundaries
  • Strong communication skills and openness to mentorship and growth
  • Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and engage in active, hands-on work (sitting on the ground, moving, etc.)
  • Completion of California background checks and health clearances
  • CPR & First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Reliable, responsible, and strong work ethic
  • If new to Waldorf, a commitment to pursuing Waldorf Early Childhood training

Substitute Teachers

Rock Rose Village School is seeking an experienced early childhood teacher to add to our substitute list.


Rock Rose is a small Waldorf/LifeWays Inspired Early Childhood Center located in southern California in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook. Fallbrook is an area rich in Waldorf community, biodynamic farms, Waldorf schools, anthroposophical study groups and close proximity to WISC (the Waldorf Institute of Southern California). 


Our school is modeled in part on Helle Heckmann's Nokken and we incorporate aspects of R.I.E. and LifeWays. We work daily with the children on the joy of domestic and practical work, maintaining a large garden where we grow vegetables and herbs, and including a kitchen where we cook organic lunches and snacks daily for all the children. This is combined with caring for our classroom and our outdoor space, along with painting, sewing, puppet shows, and seasonal crafts and celebrations. We spend a large part of our day outdoors so our ideal candidate would be comfortable spending several hours per day outdoors and enjoy gardening, cooking, and woodwork. 


Qualifications:

We are looking for someone who is hard working, has a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, works with purpose and joy, and is looking to be a part of our school and community. Our ideal candidate would be familiar with Waldorf and LifeWays programs, experienced in holding a mixed age group of children, California fingerprint clearance, and 12 ECE units.


We value excellent teaching and classroom management skills, as well as a deep understanding of child development. We also seek someone who is flexible .....


Responsibilities:

Our program runs from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm for 15 children per day ages 2 to 6 years. Responsibilities in the class will include working collaboratively with other lead teacher and classroom assistant to incorporate all the elements of the Waldorf/LifeWays early childhood curriculum into our weekly rhythm.
