Rock Rose Village School is seeking an Assistant Teacher with experience in early childhood education and an interest in learning more about Waldorf and LifeWays education.
Our school is modeled in part on Helle Heckmann's Nøkken and incorporates aspects of R.I.E. and LifeWays.
We work daily with children through meaningful domestic and practical activities, maintain a large garden where we grow vegetables and herbs, and prepare organic lunches and snacks for the children each day. Our work includes caring for our indoor and outdoor environments, painting, sewing, puppet shows, seasonal crafts, and celebrations. We partner closely with families to create a rich and supportive community centered around childhood.
Because we spend a significant portion of each day outdoors, candidates should be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor settings.
We are seeking someone who brings warmth, enthusiasm, initiative, and a genuine love of young children. Experience in Waldorf early childhood education is appreciated but not required. We welcome candidates who are eager to learn and grow within a Waldorf/LifeWays-inspired program. Mentorship and training opportunities are available for the right candidate.

Duties Include
A sample schedule could be 4 days per week (Tuesday - Friday) 8:30 am - 4 pm. Approximately 30 hours a week, with more opportunities for hours on festival weeks. We follow a similar school calendar, with reduced hours during the summer and various times of the year. Position starts in late August.

Fallbrook is an area rich in Waldorf community, biodynamic farms, Waldorf schools, anthroposophical study groups and close proximity to WISC (the Waldorf Institute of Southern California).

We work daily with the children on the joy of domestic and practical work, maintaining a large garden where we grow vegetables and herbs, and including a kitchen where we cook organic lunches and snacks daily for all the children. This is combined with caring for our classroom and our outdoor space, along with painting, sewing, puppet shows, and seasonal crafts and celebrations. We spend a large part of our day outdoors so our ideal candidate would be comfortable spending several hours per day outdoors and enjoy gardening, cooking, and woodwork.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone who is hard working, has a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, works with purpose and joy, and is looking to be a part of our school and community. Our ideal candidate would be familiar with Waldorf and LifeWays programs, experienced in holding a mixed age group of children, California fingerprint clearance, and 12 ECE units.

Responsibilities:
Our program runs from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm for 15 children per day ages 2 to 6 years. Responsibilities in the class will include working collaboratively with other lead teacher and classroom assistant to incorporate all the elements of the Waldorf/LifeWays early childhood curriculum into our weekly rhythm.
